ABOUT THE TREE ESSENCES

I don’t know exactly how or why I came to make them but I was asked to do so by the trees themselves. I have been a homeopath for nearly 25 years, before that a herbalist, and have prescribed the Bach remedies for at least 30 years. I have had an enormous amount of love and respect for plants since I was a young child. When the veil parted and I began to see and hear the plant spirits, I had already been living part-time in Greece for 10 years. All these essences are made from trees growing within a kilometer of my house. Although I started with “small-plant” flowers it was the trees that beckoned me. I began to hear them calling to me. The ancient Valonia Oak in the field behind my house told me it was time to make the message of the trees, known. She is the first and the fulcrum from which all the tree essences have come. It took me three years to finish the first ten and another two years to make the second set of ten. With no consciousness on my part they have formed the sequence of a ladder and are connected both to the chakras and to a journey up through a tree-like labyrinth. Up and down, in and out. They begin with Valonia Oak, and come to completion with Oak’s Mushroom.

As every group of essences has a different energy, I would describe the uniqueness of these Greek Tree Essences as old, deep flowing energy with a flavour of whimsy about them. They seem to arise when there are major transitions happening in people’s lives. They certainly are capable of facilitating profound change.

Some of the trees are very resinous, some are thin barked, some thick, some are deep rooted, some shallow, some like the tree of heaven, grow anywhere and everywhere, or like the Persian lilac and tamarisk, are very particular as to where they set down their roots. Listening to and studying the trees allowed me to see the miraculous medical metaphors within them.

Trees are unique as they hold on to their yearly growth while the cycle of “small plants” demands the dying back of each years growth. They are such gentle giants, so gracious in their generosity. They are the lungs of our green planet. They are providers of warmth, light, and sustenance. They are strategists, alchemists, harvesters, and holders of great wisdom. They carry ten times more DNA than we do, guarding their ancient knowledge with amazing tenacity. I feel so very privileged to have been somehow chosen to convey the messages of these special tree spirits from the beautiful island of Lesbos.

They like to be used with or without homeopathic remedies, as they both communicate with each other and happily stand alone. One essence I use a lot with remedies is Olive, as it seems to allow a remedy to facilitate changes more rapidly and with more completion.

Each essence has its own unique picture, so they are not difficult to select. You can mix as many together as you like making your own unique blends.
